The Spiritual Hagiography of Lho Lungkar Gon Monastery: A story of an unbroken lineage

WTSL Tibet

The Lho Lungkar Gon Monastery derived its name from Yongzin Phuntsok Namgyal, a disciple of the first Lho Rinpoche Gyalwang Rinchen Phuntsok. He was born in Lhodrak in southern Tibet. The followers referred to him as lama from Lho, meaning from south. Thereafter, his subsequent incarnations were known as Lhopas. The principle Lho Monastery later branched out into three sub- monasteries, i.e., Lho Miyel, Lho Palme, and Lho Lungkar Gon. Generally speaking, four major spiritual masters from Lho were Lama Lhochen, Lho Jedrung, Lho Chakme, and Lho Kunsang. These four masters had Lho as a prefix titles before their names just like a sandal wood tree, it has sandal wood branches, and sandalwood leaves.

The Hagiography states:

A hidden land nestled in a white valley in Kham Bearing a mark of Akanishta pure land

The center of Buddha Ratnashri‟s (Lord Jigten Sumgon) doctrine

Known widely as Shedrup Choekyi Ling

(Excellent center of learning and accomplishment).
